Obama in 2004: ‘Marriage is between a man and a woman’

During a candidate forum on October 26, 2004, Barack Obama was asked to elaborate on his views of gay marriage.
During that interview, the man who would later become president he believes “that marriage is between a man and a woman” and “I don’t think marriage is a civil right.”
Of course, as a state senate candidate, Obama also expressed in a statement to a Chicago gay newspaper that he supported gay marriage.
