Coast Guard posts $3K reward for arrest of false distress caller
The mayday reported a yacht explosion off Sandy Hook, New Jersey. Twenty-one people on board. Three dead. Others injured and in life boats.
Some 200 first responders answered the call. But there was no wreckage and no explosion.
Now the Coast Guard is offering a $3,000 reward for information leading the the arrest and conviction of the hoaxter.

I’m really surprised anyone would do such a thing and I was wondering why there was so little information after the first report.
