President Obama visited an area of Colorado on Friday that has been ravaged by raging wildfires that have destroyed homes and forced the evacuation of over 32,000 residents.

In a brief stop at a neighborhood of Colorado Springs known as Mountain Shadows, the president met with a group of firefighters to thank them for their efforts, and to express his condolences for the devastation.

“Those families, you made a difference in their lives,” Obama told the firefighters, who helped evacuate the neighborhood earlier this week. “We need a little bit of help from Mother Nature,” he added.

The president later said he was “grateful” for the coordination taking place between state, local and federal officials.

Sending condolences, praising firefighters for their efforts, and congratulating state, local, and federal officials for their cooperation is asking for mother nature’s help? Really?
