DNSChanger malware may resurface Monday

There is a nasty piece of malware called DNSChanger that has infected over half-a-million computers.  I wrote about it in April, including directions to check to see if your systems are compromised.  You can find the post here.

As noted in the post and other articles on the subject, the FBI set up some special servers to get between the malware and the servers that the malware authors were directing computers to.   On Monday, the FBI plans to shut these servers down.  This means that any computer that still has this malware installed will be vectored to the criminal servers.  The symptom is that you’ll not be able to connect to the net.

The believe is that there are roughly 20,o00 computers that still contain the malware.

Here’s a recent article from MSNBC on this topic.
