Syrian Army retaliates for suicide bombing
The suicide bombing that claimed the lives of three members of Syrian President Assad’s inner circle has been met with an expected retaliation. Syrian troops have been pounding rebel hideouts.
The fierce battles in the capital of Damascus is raising questions, however, about the mortality of the Assad regime.
Not seen publicly since the suicide bombing: Assad, who it is now speculated may have fled to a Syrian coastal town.
Meanwhile, the conflict is affecting Israel, whose defense minister, Ehud Barak, says refugees will not be permitted into the Golan Heights, which Israel controls.

Gary,
I have been following this pretty closely since yesterday morning when it occured.
I beg to differ with your “suicide bombing” title.the ONLY party claiming it was that is what is left of Assad’s regime.
2 separate parties are claiming responsibilty, and BOTH are claiming that pre-planted explosives were detonated from a remote location.
what is indicates, is that people quite close to his “inner circle” are involved and or contributing information to his demise….. Its no secret the number of defections have increased exponentially even as recently as within the last week.
Russia must face REALITY. they CANNOT protect him externally when people INTERNALLY have to power to achieve what happened Wednesday morning

I agree with Leesah, re: it is an inside job. there have been news reports stating that exploives were placed and then detonated from another place. What does Russia hope to accomplish? Possibly a safe passage for Assad? Barbara
