Rubio to introduce Romney at convention

WASHINGTON - Florida Senator Marco Rubio may have been passed over in Mitt Romney’s vice-presidential search but the rising Republican star will be front and center at the Republican National Convention when he introduces Mitt Romney in a primetime speech on August 30.
RNC Chairman Reince Priebus noted in a press release Tuesday that John McCain’s 2008 convention speech was watched by 38.9 million viewers, and with this year’s convention streaming online, Rubio will likely have an even larger national audience when he takes the stage at the Tampa Bay Times Forum.
Priebus noted that Rubio was an ideal selection, saying that, “Throughout his career, he has shown true dedication to constitutional principles, fiscal responsibility and free enterprise. As the son of immigrants, he has witnessed the promise of the American Dream firsthand and has worked to secure that promise for future generations.”
