Ryan echoes Obama: ‘Rape is rape’
Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan publicly admonished congressional colleague Todd Akin for Akin’s imprudent remarks about rape.
Ryan, using the same words as President Obama, told KDKA that “rape is rape.”
Akin told the NBC Today show that Ryan urged him to withdraw from the U.S. Senate race after he referred to “legitimate rape” during a weekend TV interview.
Ryan and Akin co-sponsored a bill that opposes abortions even when a woman has been raped.
