Syria’s prime minister reportedly defects

The prime minister of Syria has gone over to the other side.

The defection of Riyad Farid Hijab is an indication of a continuing internal erosion of support for Syrian President Assad, who has come under wide international condemnation for turning his military against the civilian population in what has fast become a civil war.
