USDA to spend millions to help livestock producers hit by drought
TRNS - Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said the USDA is going on a grocery shopping spree. The department will spend up to $170 million to fill its shopping cart with pork, lamb, chicken and catfish. It will help farmers and low-income families. It will help relieve pressure on American livestock producers who’ve been hard-hit by drought. And, the food will go to federal nutrition programs to feed school children and the poor.
