ELECTION SHOCKER: NORTH CAROLINA IN PLAY

A series of Marist polls show President Obama leading in three swing states, including North Carolina, an electoral battleground that Republicans appeared almost sure to win just months ago.
Obama leads by a slim 48 to 46 point margin in North Carolina, 49 to 47 percent in Nevada and a significantly wider 51 to 44 percent in New Hampshire.
While North Carolina is in play for Obama, Republican gubernatorial candidate Pat McCrory appears to be leading Democratic candidate Walter Dalton by a wide 52 to 39 percent.
The Marist polls came one day after Quinnipiac University released a survey showing Obama with slim leads in two additional battlegrounds, Florida and Ohio. In Ohio, Obama held a commanding 10 point lead and in Florida he was seen with a 9 percent edge.
Respondents were polled between September 23rd and 25th
