BRACE YOURSELVES: NOAA PREDICTS ACTIVE ATLANTIC HURRICANE SEASON

In its 2013 Atlantic hurricane season outlook, NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center is forecasting an active or extremely active season this year.

For the six-month hurricane season, which begins June 1, NOAA’s Atlantic Hurricane Season Outlook says there is a 70 percent likelihood of 13 to 20 named storms (winds of 39 mph or higher), of which 7 to 11 could become hurricanes (winds of 74 mph or higher), including 3 to 6 major hurricanes (Category 3, 4 or 5; winds of 111 mph or higher). 15-YR-OLD ARRESTED IN STABBING DEATHS OF YOUNGER BROTHERS

A teenager is in custody after his two younger brothers, ages 4 and 10, were found stabbed to death at the family’s home in West Point, Utah,.

Davis County Sheriff Todd Richardson said the 15-year-old suspect appeared to work alone and is being held at the Farmington Bay Youth Detention Center. Read more here.

BRITISH FIGHTER JETS ESCORT PAKISTAN PLANE FOLLOWING THREATS

Two men have been arrested after RAF Typhoon jets were launched to escort a passenger plane travelling from Pakistan to the UK, police have said.

Officers boarded Pakistan International Airlines flight PK709, which had been due to land at Manchester, after it was diverted to Stansted Airport. Read more here.

PORTION OF I-5 BRIDGE COLLAPSES OVER RIVER IN WASHINGTON STATE; CARS, PEOPLE IN THE DRINK

The Interstate 5 Skagit River Bridge In Washington state collapsed on Thursday evening, KIRO-TV reported.

COP BUSTED FOR ALLEGEDLY SETTING FIRE TO HIS CAPTAIN’S HOUSE

An Edison, New Jersey police officer was arrested and charged for allegedly setting fire to the home of the Edison police captain and his family.

Thirty-five-year-old Officer Michael A. Dotro was arrested at his home in Manalapan, New Jersey and was charged with five counts of attempted murder and one count of aggravated arson. Read more here.

OBAMA HEADING FOR THE JERSEY SHORE

President Obama and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, whose embrace in the wake of Hurricane Sandy was a memorable show of bipartisanship on the eve of last fall’s election, will reunite on the Jersey Shore next week.

MISTRIAL DECLARED IN PENALTY PHASE OF ARIAS TRIAL

An Arizona judge declared a mistrial in the penalty phase of the Jodi Arias trial Thursday after a deadlocked jury said it couldn’t decide whether to sentence her to death.

HOLDER SIGNED OFF ON SEARCH WARRANT FOR FOX NEWS’ ROSEN

Attorney General Eric Holder signed off on a controversial search warrant that identified Fox News reporter James Rosen as a “possible co-conspirator” in violations of the Espionage Act and authorized seizure of his private emails, a law enforcement official told NBC News on Thursday.

The disclosure of the attorney general’s role came as President Obama, in a major speech on his counter-terrorism policy, said Holder had agreed to review Justice Department guidelines governing investigations that involve journalists. Read more here.
