<p>This follows the charge that the department secretly obtained two months of phone records from Associated Press journalists as part of a separate leak probe. <p>It&#8217;s not known if he&#8217;ll say anything about the Justice Department&#8217;s seizing of AP reporter&#8217;s [phone records to figure out who leaked information about the thwarting of a new and improved underwear bombing plot.</p>

<p><span style="font-size: 13px;">“My main concern,” he said, “is fixing a problem. And we began that process yesterday by asking and accepting the resignation of the acting director there.”</span></p>
<p>Obama was referring to former interim Commissioner Steven Miller, who was forced to leave his job. Miller, a career employee who had spent 25 years at the agency, was reportedly planning on stepping down on June 8. His dismissal, however, means that he is ineligible to return to the IRS in the future.</p>

<p>According to Slate.com, back in 2004, the FBI perused 22 months of Washington Post and New York Times reporter&#8217;s phone records in an attempt to plug a leak. By the way, the Justice Department&#8217;s inspector general found that this was done without any legal process nor with the approval of the Attorney General..</p>
