A prisoner at Guantanamo Bay has begun a Twitter campaign to close the controversial prison facility.

Shaker Aamer, a Saudi citizen and a legal resident of the UK, is delivering his messages through his lawyer, Clive Stafford Smith. On May 20th Smith urged the public to contact the American officials to speak out against the detention facility. Read more here.

ANOTHER JOURNALIST SAYS SHE WAS TARGETED

Sharyl Attkisson, Emmy-award winning CBS News investigative reporter, says that her personal and work computers have been under investigation for some months, but she told Politico she’s not prepared to make “an allegation against a specific entity today.”

Attkisson earlier told WPHT Philadelphia that although she didn’t know the full details, “there could be some relationship between these things and what’s happened to(Fox News Channel correspondent) James (Rosen)” whose phone records were seized by the Justice Department.

TOP IRS OFFICIAL TAKES THE 5TH BEFORE CONGRESS

The director of the IRS division that singled out conservative groups refused to answer questions Wednesday at a House hearing on the program, as a Democratic lawmaker warned there would be “hell to pay” if the agency stonewalls Congress on its investigation.

The U.S. economy is on stronger footing than a year ago, but Ben Bernanke wants to be careful not to squelch the recovery now.

“A premature tightening of monetary policy could lead interest rates to rise temporarily, but would also carry a substantial risk of slowing or ending the economic recovery and causing inflation to fall further,” the Federal Reserve Chairman told the U.S. congressional Joint Economic Committee on Wednesday. MAN WITH TIES TO BOSTON BOMBING SUSPECT SHOT DEAD BY FBI

A man with ties to the Boston Marathon bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev was shot and killed by an FBI agent while being questioned in Florida, law enforcement officials said on Wednesday.

The man who was shot, Ibragim Todashev, 27, allegedly attacked an agent with a knife during questioning. He was not suspected of having played any role in the bombing that killed three people and injured scores more in April, but he did confess to being involved in a brutal Boston-area slaying two years ago, investigators said. Former Congressman Anthony Weiner has announced he is running for mayor of New York City, almost two years after resigning over a Twitter scandal.
